How To Crush New Years Resolutions

For 2019 I already have a ton of new year goals and resolutions written down, in hopes that I will stick to all of them this year.

From health to finances and everything in between, I have a goal for almost every aspect of my life.

The first step to accomplishing anything is to have a goal in mind. For me, that part is so easy. I always want to be healthier, happier, and more stable (financially and mentally).

Setting a goal is the easy part. Accomplishing your goal is a whole different ball game, but totally doable.

The biggest aspect to accomplishing your resolutions is having a plan to get there, and the best way to stick to your plan is to break it down into manageable steps.

Follow along with my steps outlined here, and we will be reaching all of our goals in no time!

How to Totally Smash Your New Year Resolutions

Setting Goals

This part is highly personal and depends 100% on you. Start with big picture ideas and we will break it down in a bit.

My main goal this year is to finally lose weight and get fit. It’s been a goal of mine before, but I never made it a priority in my life, which left me in the perfect place to not accomplish it.

Now, I have a new mind set. I have accomplished many goals this past year and I finally have the tools and mindset to achieve this one.

Ultimately, my goal for 2019 is to lose weight and be able to run a 5k.

Making A Plan

Now that we have our goal, we are going to make a plan that will set us up to accomplish this goal.

We will start with my goal: losing weight.

The easiest way to go about this is to invest in an already made health and fitness plan! There are hundreds to choose from so I picked one that would work for me and help me to actually get towards my goal. I chose to go with the Kayla Itsines Sweat app and the BBG guide.

Maybe your resolution isn’t fitness, but there are so many resources out there for anything you can think of. If your goal is to save more money, check out Pinterest for things like “How to Save $5,000 in A Year”. If your goal is to declutter your life, there are excellent blog posts on Pinterest with monthly schedules to work on it a little at a time.

Find a plan relevant to your goal and start there.

Now, the best way to follow your plan is to create manageable steps to get you there.

Creating Steps to Follow Your Plan

Weekly Planner Flatlay

First, the fitness part has mostly been laid out for me already. I have gained access to the BBG plan which is broken down into steps that I can take day by day. It consists of me training 3x per week and going for walks twice a week. Easy peasy.

Of course, that means I have 5 little actionable steps I can check off per week that will inch me closer and closer to my goal!

If your goal was to save money, most of those plans have a weekly savings amount. Those little amounts can be your weekly steps to check off and keep yourself accountable. You could even break those down into daily amounts to give yourself even more accountability.

However, you can make all the goals in the world. Have every plan perfectly mapped out. Have daily accountability boxes to check.

BUT

None of it will work without the most important step of all…

Committing to Your Goals

All we have done so far is plan. And while failing to plan IS planing to fail, you will still fail if you aren’t actually committed to following through.

Lastly, I have laid out a great way to help you achieve any goal imaginable, and it will work if you STICK TO IT! Unfortunately there is no easy way to stick to your commitment (if there was, you wouldn’t be reading this in the first place).

In the end, it’s up to you! But I wish you all, and myself, the best of luck in 2019. May we all accomplish our goals and maybe even surpass them 😍

Love,
Jessica
