The pop star is on the mend after spending the better part of a week at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center receiving treatment for a kidney infection. "Jessica was in the hospital for five days with a kidney infection and is feeling better and out of the hospital," the singer's rep, Cindi Berger, told E! News. While Simpson has since checked out, the timing of her hospitalizing remains unclear. In Touch Weekly, which first reported her malady, claimed the entertainer was admitted on Friday morning. But that would put her hospital stay at just three-plus days. Cedars did nothing to clear up the fuzzy math. "I have no idea if she is here," said a hospital rep, "and if I did I wouldn't be able to release any information."

From In Touch Weekly: Jessica Simpson is at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to a small kidney infection, In Touch can exclusively reveal. “She checked in on Friday morning because she was feeling achy and had a fever,” a friend of the family confirmed. Jessica was kept over the weekend for observations and is expected to be released Tuesday morning. “She is doing fine, but she is ready to get out of there,” added the friend. And although Jessica’s boyfriend, Dallas Cowboy QB, Tony Romo wanted to be by her side, he had prior commitments in Dallas. Get well soon Jess!

The 27-year-old has been recording her country-themed new album in the city, and, according to the Nashville Post newspaper, has now spent $3.47 million (GBP1.74 million) on a seven-bedroom house in the same posh suburb where LeAnn Rimes lives. But Simpson's representative has dismissed the report, telling OK! magazine Simpson "absolutely did not buy a house in Nashville".

What are you talking about?” Simpson told TMZ.com, “Well I guess if my mom said it, it must be true!” Romo and Simpson have been dating since Thanksgiving of last year. It was that Thanksgiving meal with her family that confirmed that singer Jessica Simpson and quarterback Tony Romo were serious about each other. On Easter, they were together again, this time with Jessica's sister, Ashlee Simpson. The Romo-Simpson party had a table of eight at the Easter brunch in the Crystal Ballroom at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addison. Many of the 1,500 brunch guests made extra trips to the dessert table as an excuse to get a look at Tony and the Simpson sisters.

Skimming below her shoulders, Simpson's hair is "lightly layered, with a few shorter pieces in the front curving around the face," explains her hairstylist, Ken Paves. The strands gradually blend into a longer, less choppy length toward the back, which "pulls hair away from the face and allows it to lie better." Paves wanted to give Simpson something "touchable" that would "never be fussy"; he believes this lightly layered look is "versatile and universally flattering on any woman." But, he warns, "don't over-layer the sides and base or you'll end up with a long shag."

1. Keep waves in

For this look, don't blow-dry hair smooth. "There's no reason to take out the natural wave that will hold this curl," explains Paves, who starts by applying a mousse to damp hair. While diffusing, he uses his fingers to tousle hair instead of a round brush, which can straighten. "This leaves the wavy texture in," he says.

2. Use two irons

Paves relies on two sizes of curling irons (1-inch and 1 1/2-inch barrels) to simulate a more natural curl pattern. "I use the larger iron on the top sections, from the temple up, to create volume and a looser wave," he says. Curl sections randomly to keep the look slightly uneven and imperfect.

3. Don't clamp down

To create a looser, undone feel, Paves pulls a 2-inch section of hair toward the face, and twirls it with his finger twice before wrapping it lightly around the iron, then rolling it back away from the face. "Winding hair around the barrel, rather than clamping the ends and rolling, prevents ringlet curls that are too defined," he says.

4. Break it up

Once the hair has cooled, use your fingers to gently loosen and break up the curls. Paves lifts and shakes hair while simultaneously misting a light spray wax to add fullness and hold. "But don't touch the finished style when it's still warm," he warns, "or you'll get fuzz and flyaways

Jessica Simpson took her act on the road Monday – and ended up outside Kuwait City. "I haven't really got a lot of sleep, I tell ya," Simpson, 27, told the camera for the Today show as a group of U.S. soldiers surrounded her in the background. "I am in Kuwait, I'm enjoying all the troops – having a blast," she said. When it came to what she was doing over there, Simpson said she was "signing autographs, meeting them, showing all the support I can." The troops are in Kuwait in anticipation of being deployed to Iraq. Simpson was voted they act they most wanted to see. Prompted by a question from the morning program's New York studio, Simpson turned to the soldiers around her and asked, "Hey, guys – do you like having me here?" The guys whooped it up. Preparing for the three-hour Operation MySpace show for the troops, Simpson said, "I can't wait to get up there and have fun with everybody." She also said that she would have "some of the soldiers carrying me around." On the program are patriotic songs, ranging from "Top Gun" to "God Bless America," she said.

When the primped and heeled Simpson leaves for Kuwait today with the Pussycat Dolls, we're told the whole crew will be ditching their usual hotel rooms and limos for sleeping bags and bunks. A full page ad on the back of our "A" section today says she'll be signing autographs at the Dillard's in Frisco from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. But to get your autograph, you have to buy $75 worth of stuff from the "Jessica Simpson Collection". Once you do, you'll get a wristband to stand in line to meet Jessica. The line forms at 8 a.m.

The same day Tony Romo told PEOPLE that he and Jessica Simpson are not engaged but that marriage is something on his mind, the couple had dinner at Greenwich Village hot spot Waverly Inn. The two, both 27, are going strong and can't bear to be apart, a source close to Simpson tells PEOPLE, adding: "They are doing great. They are really, really happy together." In New York to be with Romo when he accepted his award at Cosmopolitan's Fun, Fearless Male luncheon, Simpson was due to fly to Nashville Tuesday before Romo joins her in Los Angeles, says the source. "She's having a great time and is loving life right now," says the source. "She is happier than ever. Things with Tony are going really well." And should she ever settle down, there's her 1,200-sq.-ft. Las Vegas condo in the Palms Place. Simpson has closed on a one-bedroom at the new 47-story hotel/residence set to open this weekend. (The condo was initially to be a newlywed pad for Simpson and then-husband Nick Lachey, but was awarded to Simpson as part of her divorce.)

Jessica Simpson has a new pad in Vegas. The Newlyweds star closed on her luxurious one-bedroom suite at the Palms Place in Las Vegas today. An insider at the hotel tells PageSix.com that Jessica’s boyfriend, Tony Romo, “has not seen the unit yet.” In fact, our source reveals that “the purchase of the condo was initiated when Jessica was still married to ex-husband Nick Lachey,” but the Dukes of Hazzard star kept the condo in their 2005 divorce. Prices for condos at Palms Place start at $600,000 and go up to over a million for a penthouse. Jessica's new crash pad features 1,200 square feet of living space, hardwood and marble floors, 9-foot ceilings, multiple balconies, a living room with fireplace, plasma TVs and a king-size bed. Like most everyone else, Tony Romo hears those rumors about how he and Jessica Simpson are getting engaged. And what does he think about what he hears? "I mean, it's just rumors. That's what people say," the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, 27, told PEOPLE at Monday's Fun Fearless Male of the Year Awards – where he was honored alongside Simpson's ex John Mayer and rumored former boyfriend Dane Cook. ("I guess you date Jessica Simpson, that makes you fearless!" Romo joked.) But will there be marriage in Romo's future? "I'm sure I'll get married one day. I don’t know when," he says. As for being with Simpson, also 27, Romo tells PEOPLE:
Would Jessica call you fun and fearless?
Yeah, sure. Though we don't usually have conversations about how fun and fearless I am, but I'm a pretty fun guy. I joke a lot.
What's the last fun thing you two did?
We've done a lot of fun stuff. Any time you get away and do some interesting things. We just went to Hawaii for the pro bowl. That was pretty fun.
Is it true her father played matchmaker for the two of you?
No. I had met her dad a long time ago. He was there at the same time I met her, but it was indirect. You know, you just start talking. Some people take a liking to each other. Some don't.
During the off-season, will you visit Jessica in Nashville, where she's recording a country album?
Yeah. She's working hard. She's doing a great job, and I'm really excited about the way it sounds. It sounds real good. I'm excited.
