Actress/pop star Jessica Simpson is in demand in the Ukraine following the success of her latest film in cinemas there. Blonde Ambition was a flop in the U.S., where it made just over $1,000 (GBP500) at the box office during its opening weekend in December (08). The movie, which also stars Luke Wilson, was pulled from theatres, but it has been reborn in the Ukraine, where it's become a surprise hit. And now local film bosses want Simpson to consider a trip to the country, where she has become an overnight sensation. Film producer Alex Shpiluk, a member of the Ukrainian Film Commission, tells In Touch magazine, "She is really the ideal of American beauty and style, like Barbie. She would be useful to us and our image." And Arama Gevorcyan, another leading Ukrainian film producer, has gone so far as to invite Simpson to be the guest of honour at a September (08) movie celebration in the Eastern European country. He says, "I'm the organiser of the big 80th anniversary celebration of the largest Ukrainian film studio, Dovzhenko. "We would love for Jessica Simpson to come to this celebration... We will pay for it!"

With all this talk about Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson possibly tying the knot after comments made by a couple of friends and exes, I thought it would be nice to check in with someone a little closer to the situation. "Tony and Jessica have something really special," said Jessica's dad, Joe Simpson. "I mean its one of those relationships where I wouldn't be surprised if they got married tomorrow. He's a real stand up guy and she loves him." I spoke to Joe about Tony and Jessica before the Super Bowl this month in a short piece that was in SI, and he was especially candid about his desire to have Tony be his future son-in-law. "I knew him before Jessica," he said. "He's just the most genuine, down-to-Earth guy you'd ever want to meet. He's the best." "The worst part is we can't even go to the games anymore because of the scrutiny," said Joe. "The funny thing about the jersey is that Jess got that from Tony's mom who was sitting in a suite above us. She put it on after she got it and it gets blown out and shown everywhere." The most infamous moment of the couple's relationship, however, occurred when Romo and Simpson were photographed vacationing in Cabo San Lucas prior to the Cowboys' playoff game against the Giants, which they lost after defeating New York twice during the regular season. "The craziest thing about that Cabo trip was that my wife and I were there for a week on vacation and Jessica called and said Tony wanted to come down for a vacation," said Joe. "We were about ready to leave and they called and said they wanted to come down and see us and I get labeled as overbearing or selling out my daughter to the paparazzi by telling them where they were. Why would I do that? It's ridiculous. Tony's not used to all this attention. It's all new for him so when he put the plane in his name that was leaving Dallas and going to Cabo, I mean that's a touchdown for the paparazzi."

The star was dining with friends, including celebrity hair stylist Ken Paves, in posh eaterie Katsuya on Thursday (21Feb08) when she was caught short of cash. After getting into a waiting car, a grinning Simpson searched in her handbag for over two minutes, before eventually finding a pile of notes and handing them to Paves, who was driving the vehicle. Paves handed over the money to the waiting valet, who was eventually rewarded with the crumpled wad of cash.

Is Jessica Simpson the David Hasselhoff of Ukraine? The blond starlet seems to be the toast of the Eastern European nation. Her latest film, Blonde Ambition, hit No. 1 in Ukraine, grossing $253,008 for the weekend of Feb. 14-17, Box Office Mojo reports. It's a huge reversal of fortune for the film, which bombed back home. In December, Blonde Ambition had a run in eight Texas theaters, grossing just $1,771 in its opening weekend. How to explain the comedy's success abroad? One word: escapism. "The former Soviet nations have a sweet tooth for straight-up comedies," Conor Bresnan, editor in chief of Box Office Mojo International, tells PEOPLE. "When these comedies have big name celebrities like Jessica Simpson's, that's all that's needed to sell the movie. Russian and Ukrainian audiences have an even bigger urge for escapism than Americans. So, films like Blonde Ambition will gross more than No Country for Old Men. And this may only be the beginning for Blonde Ambition. Next stop: Bulgaria.

Last weekend I flew to Los Angeles to watch Kevin Love and the UCLA Bruins avenge last month's loss to USC. The game was about as exciting as a Tupperware party, but the trip was still worth it because it gave me the chance to re-connect with my good friend, Cacee Cobb. Cacee and I spent many a night drinking Big O's at George's during our days at Baylor and remained close until she moved to Los Angeles about five years ago to become Jessica Simpson's assistant. Even though our line of communication had broken down, I'd always get irritated with the way Cacee was portrayed on "The Newlyweds" and with the inaccurate stories and cheap shots directed at her by gossip magazines. Anyone who truly knows Cacee will tell you she's impossible not to like. Much like the missus, she's as positive and upbeat of a person as I've ever been around, and it's obvious that she's an extremely loyal friend who is driven in her career. A buddy of mine back in college once described Cacee as "a breath of fresh air." I'm sure you'll agree after reading this interview.

KOTR: First things first: Bring me up to date on what you've been doing since leaving your job as Jessica's assistant.
CACEE: OK, well, basically, I wanted to get back into the music industry, so I'm back working with Sony Music, which is where I got my start years ago. I've been given the opportunity to work with Jessica on her new record. Jessica wanted to make another record and she told her label that she wanted to make it with me. So they put me on the project and it's been great. I'm working with so many wonderful songwriters, publishers, producers … it's been an amazing experience. She knows this is my passion and that this is what I love doing. But she also knows that I've always believed in her. We've been through so much together – both good and bad. We make a great team and we want to make a great record together.

KOTR: When will the record be released, and can you give me any hints as to what it may sound like?
CACEE: Release dates change all the time, so nothing is set in stone. I know she's really excited about it. She's going back to her roots and is making a country record. She's always wanted to make a record like this, but I don't think the timing has been right until now. We've been living in Nashville and words can't even describe how great that place is. The energy, the people. We love it! It's going to be a great record. She deserves it.

KOTR: What do you mean by that?
CACEE: I just mean that she's a sweet person who's been through a lot the last few years. All the while, she stayed above the gossip and has always taken the high road. She deserves for something good to come her way. Some people really haven't given her a break. We live in a world where people want to say mean things and bring people down.

"It was kind of a documentary that I did with MTV about making a record... that is an idea that I had and I thought it was a good one, so I can certainly see where she’s coming from with that." But Lachey has ruled out a return to the reality genre that brought him and Simpson notoriety with MTV's Newlyweds. "Reality TV is not on my radar," he said. "You learn lessons in life, and then you have a responsibility to yourself to learn from those lessons." When asked if he would consider a reality series with girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, Lachey responded, "No, no, no, no. Never. Never." Singer/actress Jessica Simpson has been accused of "hurting millions of fat people in America" by banning the sale of a secret fitness DVD. The actress recorded the workout tape produced by fitness video company Speedfit ahead of her role as Daisy Duke in the Dukes of Hazzard in 2005. But despite signing a multi-million dollar (pound) contract, the 27-year-old changed her mind and banned its release, reports New York gossip column PageSix.com. Speedfit owner Alex Astilean has now launched a lawsuit against her manager dad Joe after failing to secure a $10 million (GBP5 million) settlement from Simpson last year (07). Astilean says, "They are hurting millions of fat people in America." Simpson's spokesman tells the publication, "It's a legal matter that's in the hands of attorneys."

For Jessica Simpson, Valentine's Day was spent Texas-style: The singer and beau Tony Romo dined together at Nove Italiano restaurant in Dallas. "All eyes were on them," one insider says of the singer and the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. "But they sat in a corner booth to try and get some privacy." Simpson was wearing a sexy crimson dress, and the pair were seen being very affectionate with each other. The couple kick-started their romantic meal with a bottle of Cristal champagne, followed spaghetti bolognaise. As for dessert, the sweet of the day was on the menu, of course: Simpson and Romo cozily shared chocolate-covered strawberries along with chocolate mousse before heading out through the restaurant's special VIP exit (also known as the kitchen), where they darted off in a waiting limo.

The Grand Prairie AirHogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball have announce a Jessica Simpson Night promotion for July 6, 2008 at 2:05 p.m. against the Pensacola Pelicans. General Manager Dave Burke guarantees an AirHogs victory that afternoon, or all fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to a future game. "We don't believe Jessica was bad luck to the Cowboys in the playoffs, and we're going to prove it with our guarantee," said Burke. "Fans are also going to enjoy an unforgettable night at the ballpark." As part of the promotion, the entire stadium will take on a Jessica Simpson-themed atmosphere. This will include the distribution of Jessica masks, her music and reality show highlights playing throughout the game, two-dollar margaritas in the stadium's restaurant, and a special prize awarded to the biggest Jessica Simpson fan in attendance. Free admission will be offered to spectators who enter the stadium dressed in Jessica's likeness. This includes any fan who wears a pink Dallas Cowboys jersey. In honor of Jessica's affinity for dogs, the game will also serve as "Bring Your Dog to the Stadium Night" for the AirHogs. Any fan who brings their dog to the ballpark will have their pet gain free entrance.

KDKA-TV In Pittsburgh captured this picture of celebrity sweethearts Simpson and Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo on his cellphone camera on Monday. Simpson and Romo were trying to find a quiet spot outside the Ihilani Spa and Resort where many of the players are staying. Simpson and Romo's relationship caused an uproar at the end of the NFL season after the Cowboys lost to the New York Giants – who, of course, went on to win the Super Bowl. Romo was accused of having his priorities out of whack and many fans began labeling Simpson a "jinx." Tony Romo keeps his cool on the field and off of it – even when it comes to his love life. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who is currently in Hawaii to play in this weekend's Pro Bowl and enjoy some downtime with girlfriend Jessica Simpson, says he steers clear of romance talk. "I came to an understanding a little while back that no one is going to remember me in five or seven years anyway so let them talk and say what they want to say," he tells FoxSports.com. "In seven years, I'm going to be off doing whatever and living normal so it's like, 'Work hard. Try to do things right in life and forget about the rest of the junk.'" Asked how his life has changed since he began dating Simpson, his pal Terrell Owens jumps in to crack, "I think he's in way over his head." But Romo only smiles and brushes off the idea that he can't handle the attention, which has not always been favorable. I'm "definitely not [over my head]," he says. "I don't read the stuff like everyone else does, so it doesn't affect me. If I were to watch and read everything that is written and said, as a human being it would probably be difficult." During a joint 15-minute conversation with me on Wednesday, it became apparent how close a friendship Terrell Owens and Tony Romo have built. The two frequently teased and interrupted each other while addressing such wide-ranging topics as New York's Super Bowl run, karaoke, the paparazzi (yes, Jessica Simpson is in Hawaii), and Owens' tear-filled news conference where he defended Romo from media criticism after the Giants game....

Owens: "I already knew what (questions) were going to be directed. What was more important is how we lost the game, what we didn't do right. But I knew (the media) was going to hit me with stuff like, 'Could it have been possibly Tony's preparation and him going to Cabo (with Simpson during the Cowboys' bye week)?' That had nothing to do with nothing. That was like a week beforehand. I didn't want it to go there. "I've been in that situation before where you get criticized unfairly for sometimes doing the right thing or what you think is the right thing. Obviously, he did what the coach allowed any of the players to do. The thing I hate about it is they didn't invite me to come with them."

Marvez: Tony, how do you have to change your life now because of all the attention your relationship with Jessica is getting?

Jessica Simpson was pulled over while in the music city this weekend. The incident happened Friday afternoon near 21st Avenue and Blackemore Avenue in Nashville. Cacee Cobb was in the drivers seat and took a right turn on a no turn on red. The police officer asked for Cacee's license, which turned out to be suspended. The cop then asked for Jessica's license, which came back clear. The police officer then made Jessica drive and only gave Cacee a warning.. and the officer said Jessica was wearing her Dallas Cowboy Hat.

Sorry Dallas Cowboys fans, your star quarterback definitely has not dumped the woman that many have dubbed as a "jinx".  Despite published reports that Tony Romo, 27, split or was getting ready to dump Jessica Simpson, also 27, an insider tells Life & Style, "They’re more in love than ever." The article then lays out this scenario.  In mid-January, the couple met for a cozy dinner at Del Frisco at the Galleria in Dallas.  "They dined in a secluded part of our dining room," Del Frisco manager John Eastwood tells L&S.  “We wanted to make sure they were left alone.  But when they got up to leave, people noticed them – and they got a standing ovation!" Wow - that must have been some sight, people got up from their dinners to cheer on Tony Romo after his second straight playoff loss and his girlfriend that many blame?  The manager tells the magazine that "Tony shook a few hands and signed some autographs.  They really seemed to enjoy it." This much is certain, Jess and Tony who started dating in November, are going strong, contrary to reports that they recently called it quits.

Earlier this week, Simpson and her man, Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo were spotted singing on a karaoke stage in Los Angeles. Simpson landed by herself at the airport Thursday afternoon, presumably to keep working on her first country album. She arrived in a camouflage hat and jeans and stopped to sign an autograph or two.
