Song Information:

"A Public Affair" follows a classic disco game plan even including a retro percussion breakdown. It's perfect for early evening party play and it can easily become a peak hour dance hit. "A Public Affair" is animated by backing tracks that call to mind "Holiday"-era Madonna. Chuck Taylor of Billboard magazine called the song's production "wildly adventurous" and "maddeningly catchy." He even called the song "A perfect record." Teen People called the song a fun, frothy dance track reminiscent of early Madonna; some in the media have criticized the unoriginality of the song due to its strong similarity to Madonna's "Holiday." The song also features an interpolation of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." On July 22, 2006, after weeks of its digital release "A Public Affair" entered the top ten of the iTunes Music Store's most popular songs. Ironically, Ashlee Simpson's song "Invisible" was positioned at number two, making this the first time in iTunes history to have two siblings with different songs in the top ten at the same time.
